Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick had no guaranteed salary remaining on his contract, but that changed with a recently revised agreement. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Fitzpatrick will now receive a $16.245 million signing bonus that is fully guaranteed for the upcoming season.
This adjustment provides financial security for Fitzpatrick and opens the door for his representatives to focus on negotiating a longer-term extension with the Dolphins organization.
Agent Confirms Ongoing Extension Discussions
Fitzpatrick’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, expressed confidence in the team‘s commitment, stating,
“We are comfortable with this commitment to Minkah as we continue to work with the Dolphins on a multi-year extension,”
as reported by Schefter.
Fitzpatrick’s Return to Miami After Trade with Pittsburgh
The Dolphins reacquired Fitzpatrick in a trade made in June that saw cornerback Jalen Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick sent to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In return, Miami received Fitzpatrick along with a 2027 fifth-round pick. Originally drafted 11th overall by Miami in 2018, Fitzpatrick was traded to Pittsburgh just two games into his second season in exchange for draft selections.
Track Record Highlights Fitzpatrick’s Impact in Pittsburgh and Miami
During his time with the Steelers, Fitzpatrick established himself as one of the league’s top safeties, accumulating 516 tackles, 45 passes defended, and 18 interceptions over 88 games. His performance earned him first-team All-Pro honors in 2019, 2020, and 2022, along with five Pro Bowl appearances.
Revised Contract Signals Bright Future for Fitzpatrick and Dolphins
By restructuring Fitzpatrick’s contract to guarantee $16.2 million for the 2025 season, the Dolphins have demonstrated their willingness to invest in his talents. This move not only secures Fitzpatrick’s financial interests but also creates momentum for extending his career with Miami, promising stability for both player and team in the coming years.
