Troy Rice Named New PGA TOUR Superstore CEO to Drive Massive Growth and Innovation Starting 2025
Troy Rice appointed PGA TOUR Superstore CEO, bringing over 30 years of extensive retail experience for future growth.

Troy Rice has been appointed the new chief executive officer of PGA TOUR Superstore, with his tenure beginning on September 2, 2025. The announcement, made by the national golf retail chain headquartered in Atlanta, highlights Rice’s selection after a comprehensive global search to find a leader capable of driving substantial growth and innovation within the company. This PGA TOUR Superstore CEO appointment comes as part of a planned transition following the retirement announcement of long-serving CEO Dick Sullivan.

Troy Rice’s Leadership Background and Career Highlights

Rice brings over 30 years of retail experience, including 16 years at The Home Depot where he rose from manager trainee to executive roles overseeing divisions with multi-billion-dollar sales. His career spans senior leadership positions at major retailers like Office Depot, Toys “R” Us, and Total Wine & More, where he served most recently as CEO. At Total Wine & More, Rice was instrumental in expanding sales from $2.5 billion to $6 billion and more than doubling store locations. He is known for his customer-focused approach and his ability to enhance operational efficiency and digital transformation.

Transition and Leadership Structure at PGA TOUR Superstore

Rice will report directly to Arthur M. Blank, owner and chairman of The Blank Family of Businesses, who acquired PGA TOUR Superstore in 2010 when it had just ten stores. Dick Sullivan, the outgoing CEO who led the company for 15 years, will continue as executive chairman and serve on the board of trustees. Meanwhile, Jill Spiegel remains president of PGA TOUR Superstore and will maintain a significant operational role, reporting to Rice as the company seeks to execute its expansion strategies.

The company also supports a successful online business and recorded record revenues in fiscal 2024, continuing to increase its market share in 2025. PGA TOUR Superstore is recognized today as the largest specialty golf retailer globally, a distinction that Rice is expected to build upon.

Rice’s retail career includes successfully managing significant business units and spearheading digital innovation. At The Home Depot, his leadership roles spanned from regional vice president managing a $3 billion profit and loss portfolio to division president responsible for $17 billion in sales, eventually overseeing more than 600 stores generating $24 billion in sales. At Toys “R” Us, he grew revenues from $5.5 billion to $8.2 billion and launched initiatives that enhanced customer engagement and digital fulfillment, contributing to the company’s strongest year in 2010.

During his tenure at Office Depot, Rice played a critical role in the merger with Office Max, managing 1,500 stores with $6 billion in sales and leading a 30,000-employee workforce. His strategic focus included operational unification, modernization of systems, and restructuring to improve organizational effectiveness.

From joining Total Wine & More as chief stores officer in 2017 to CEO in 2022, Rice oversaw rapid expansion and sales growth while enhancing digital capabilities. He grew the store count by an average of 17 new locations annually, expanding the workforce from 5,000 to 11,000 employees and increasing stores to 283 across 28 states. Under his leadership, digital sales soared from $300 million to over $1 billion, supported by an award-winning app and scalable fulfillment processes aimed at improving customer service.

His operational improvements included optimized supply chain management and advanced demand planning to support the company’s accelerated growth.

Experienced Leadership Aligned with PGA TOUR Superstore’s Values
