The Las Vegas Raiders have reached an agreement with left tackle Kolton Miller on a contract extension, announced Wednesday. Facing the final year of his previous deal, Miller has now committed to a three-year contract worth $66 million, including $42.5 million guaranteed, ensuring his presence on the team through the 2028 season. This extension highlights the Raiders’ confidence in Miller as their longest-tenured player.
Career Background and Contract Details
Selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Miller had signed a three-year, $54 million extension with the Raiders in 2021. He was scheduled to earn $15.7 million this season before the new deal. Now 29 years old, Miller’s extended tenure will mark a decade with the franchise once his contract concludes. His stability on the offensive line remains a critical asset for the Raiders.
Role Under New Leadership and Team Outlook
Miller plays a crucial role protecting quarterback Geno Smith’s blindside as the team transitions under new head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll, who led the Seattle Seahawks for 13 years, was brought in following the Raiders’ 4-13 record last season. Miller has shown optimism about Carroll’s leadership and, amid ongoing negotiations last month, expressed a desire to remain a “Raider for life.”
Durability and Performance Record
Since entering the league, Miller has made 107 starts, ranking 10th among NFL offensive linemen and fifth among tackles in that period. Notably, he was the only Raiders offensive lineman to start all 17 games last season and has missed only seven games in his entire career. His reliability and experience continue to make him an essential component of the Raiders’ offensive front.
