Lewis Hamilton eagerly anticipates canceling commitments for GTA 6's release, showcasing his passion for gaming beyond F1.

Lewis Hamilton, known for his remarkable achievements in Formula 1, has expressed a strong excitement about the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6. The seven-time world champion revealed at the Belgian Grand Prix that the highly anticipated game has him ready to pause his busy schedule to enjoy it, highlighting his passion beyond racing.

Hamilton’s gaming enthusiasm shines through

Beyond his record-breaking career in F1, Hamilton has a wide range of interests including music, fashion, and especially gaming. During a fan Q&A session, Hamilton openly shared his love for video games like Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, and Gran Turismo. However, it was his anticipation for GTA 6 that stood out the most. He said,

“I’m dying for the new Grand Theft Auto to come out. GTA 6! Yeah, that’s the one I’m waiting for. I’ll have to cancel all my work when that game comes out.”

The excitement around Grand Theft Auto 6 is immense, making it one of the most awaited video game releases ever. Developed by Rockstar Games with a staggering production budget exceeding $1 billion, the game is expected to launch on May 26, 2026.

Fortunately for Hamilton, the release date falls between the Canadian and Monaco Grands Prix of 2026, potentially allowing him some leisure time to dive into the game amidst his racing calendar.

Challenges marking Hamilton’s early days with Ferrari

Since moving to Ferrari, Hamilton’s season has faced some hurdles. In 13 races, he has yet to secure a finish higher than fourth place. His standout performance came during the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix where he claimed victory from pole position.

Recently, Hamilton has demonstrated improvement, often managing to out-qualify his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, although he remains 30 points behind Leclerc in the championship standings. With the Hungarian Grand Prix approaching, Hamilton may have a solid shot at his first podium this season, thanks to his exceptional record at the Hungaroring, where he has won eight times and earned his most recent pole position in 2023.

What lies ahead for Hamilton beyond the track

Given the fierce competition expected in the upcoming F1 season, including potential title battles, Hamilton’s anticipation for GTA 6 reflects his desire for moments of rest and enjoyment away from racing’s intensity. As one of the sport’s most celebrated figures, this glimpse into his personal interests shows a relatable side to the champion, who looks forward to balancing his high-pressure career with downtime spent gaming.
