Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo has been ruled out of this summer’s EuroBasket tournament after aggravating a turf toe injury that previously sidelined him for 19 games last season. The Italian basketball federation confirmed the injury affects his left big toe. According to Italy’s national team coordinator, Gigi Datome, DiVincenzo may require up to four months of treatment before returning to full health.
Despite this setback, DiVincenzo has expressed his ongoing dedication to Italy’s national team program and intends to remain a committed member moving forward.
Boston Celtics’ Situation with Anfernee Simons
The Boston Celtics appear poised to enter the 2025–26 season with Anfernee Simons still on their roster. Since acquiring him from Portland as part of the Jrue Holiday trade earlier this offseason, Boston explored trade options but has yet to finalize a move. One NBA general manager shared with Heavy Sports’ Sean Deveney that the Celtics seem content to start the year with their current lineup and are not rushing any decisions.
“You never know, but the team they have now is probably the team they’ll start the year with,”
the general manager explained.
“They could get themselves involved in some blockbuster. But they’re not in a hurry to make that move.”
The same executive noted that Simons, turning 26 soon and earning $27.7 million on a remaining one-year contract, might still turn the corner and improve his game this season.
“Sometimes a situation changes and the light bulb goes on for a guy,”
the GM added.
“He is still a young guy, and if he is willing to learn, he could come out a better player. So you wait to trade him to see if that happens.”
Last season, Simons averaged 19.3 points and 4.8 assists while shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from beyond the arc for the Blazers. However, the Celtics have yet to hold an introductory press conference for him, possibly signaling uncertainty about his future role.
NBA’s Expanding International Presence
The NBA has announced plans to host several international regular-season games over the next three years, reflecting the league’s global growth strategy. In January 2026, the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic will participate in games in Berlin on January 15 and London on January 18. Additional matchups are planned in Manchester and Paris in 2027, followed by more contests in Berlin and Paris in 2028. The game in Germany will mark the NBA’s first regular-season appearance in that country, underscoring the league’s expanding international footprint.
