This summer, Reed Sheppard and Derek Willis, both former Kentucky Wildcats, have returned to Lexington to train together at the Joe Craft Center. Their collaboration highlights their ongoing commitment to growth during the offseason and underscores the lasting bond they share with the Kentucky basketball community.

Sheppard’s Progression from College to the NBA

Reed Sheppard, selected third overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, recently completed his rookie season with the Houston Rockets. Over 52 games, Sheppard averaged 4.4 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in just over 12 minutes per game. His NBA debut followed a productive college career where he posted 12.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in nearly 29 minutes across 33 Kentucky appearances.

Derek Willis’s International Career and Return to Training

Derek Willis, originally from Bullitt County and a Kentucky player from 2013 to 2017, has cultivated an extensive professional career overseas. He has competed in Germany, Italy, Turkey, and recently finished two seasons with EuroLeague powerhouse Anadolu Efes. Willis is now preparing for his next chapter with Paris Basketball in France after returning to Lexington for offseason workouts.
