His wife, Jessica Friesen, provided the latest update Thursday morning, confirming he is now stable and being treated at a Level One trauma center in New York, where he will soon undergo surgery for his injuries.

Friesen’s wreck occurred while battling for position in a three-wide fight during the dirt modified feature event. His car went high on the straightaway as he entered Turn 3, launching off the track surface and crashing violently into the ARMCO barrier. The crash resulted in a broken pelvis and a fractured right leg, both requiring surgical intervention.

Jessica expressed deep gratitude for the medical teams supporting Stewart throughout the ordeal.

“We are beyond grateful for Dr. Maresca and the staff at Canton-Postdam Hospital for helping us initiate the trauma transfer back to the United States, along with the amazing crew at Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance who did an incredible job keeping Stewart stable and comfortable during his transfer,”

she wrote.

She also noted the importance of care available at the New York trauma center, saying,

“Stewart has successfully made it back to the United States and has been admitted to a Level One trauma center in New York. Stewart’s injuries are extensive, and we are thankful that we have been able to get him to a place that has the experience necessary to complete all of the surgeries that he needs.”
