Hall of Famer Sterling Sharpe Names Joe Burrow the QB He’d Most Want to Play With

CINCINNATI — Hall of Fame wide receiver Sterling Sharpe recently expressed his strong admiration for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, naming him as the current NFL quarterback he would most want to play alongside. Sharpe highlighted Burrow’s unique qualities and leadership since his transition from college football at LSU into the professional league.

Sharpe did not hesitate when asked which quarterback he would pick. “Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow,” he repeated emphatically, adding,

“and I’m gonna say Joe Burrow because; I would like to say I would like to help him, like hey Ja’Marr hey man… that cat is special.”

He praised Burrow’s vision and communication, stating,

“I think Joe Burrow, just in from what I have seen since he’s been in the league, since he left Ohio State and went to LSU. What I’ve seen, I think I’d like to play with him just to see what he sees, and hear what he says, and how he talks.”

Sharpe drew comparisons to other quarterbacks, mentioning Patrick Mahomes and former quarterback Brett Favre to illustrate different playing styles. He noted,

“Like playing with Patrick Mahomes would be like playing with Brett [Favre], and you know believe it or not Patrick Mahomes has a lot more Mike Tomczak than he does Brett Favre. T-Zak will flip it to you, throw it behind his back, call a running play, miss the handoff, roll out and be like ‘uhhhhh here’s a flip.’”

Sharpe Also Considers Lamar Jackson as a Preferred Quarterback Partner

In addition to Burrow, Sterling Sharpe expressed interest in playing alongside Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. He described his internal deliberation over which of the two he would prefer, saying,

“Lamar? I would like to play with Lamar, Lamar Jackson too.”

He further explained,

“I go back and forth cause I’ve had this conversation with myself. Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson are the two I think I’d love to play with just to get a feel with their game and what they see.”

Both Burrow and Jackson have demonstrated significant success in their careers, each securing two division titles within the last four seasons. Their leadership has been pivotal in positioning the Bengals and Ravens as the leading teams in the AFC North division.

Impact of Burrow’s Leadership on Bengals’ Success

Joe Burrow’s influence on the Cincinnati Bengals extends beyond his passing skills, as he has fostered strong connections with teammates and displayed an extensive understanding of the game. Sterling Sharpe’s endorsement adds to the growing recognition of Burrow’s talent and teamwork, reinforcing his status as a highly respected quarterback in the NFL.
