Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, recently married to actress Hailee Steinfeld, has been advancing his NFL comeback through a dedicated fitness recovery routine. After tying the knot on May 31, 2024, Allen returned to team training with noticeable improvements, crediting a new regimen alongside his relationship for his enhanced performance.

Hailee Steinfeld shares insights into their recovery practices

In her newsletter, Beau Society, Hailee Steinfeld discussed a conversation with her father, Peter Steinfeld, a personal trainer, focusing on staying active and managing post-exercise soreness. Peter emphasized flexibility in exercise habits, encouraging activities like walking or jogging and listening to the body’s signals. He advised,

If you don’t want to go to the gym, don’t go. Go outside, take a walk, or jog. Maybe stop after five or ten minutes. Maybe do some squats or pushups,

and added,

You’ll come home and feel a lot better. If you focus on how you feel and adjust accordingly, you’ll get the most out of every day.

The conversation also addressed soreness after workouts. Peter explained that early muscle discomfort is normal, but constant soreness indicates issues such as overtraining, inadequate nutrition, or poor hydration. He noted,

You can expect soreness when you start movement after your muscles have been dormant, but you shouldn’t be sore after every workout. If you are, you’re either overtraining and undereating, or underhydrating, or you’re doing movements incorrectly,

and recommended small adjustments in diet and hydration to alleviate this discomfort. He also clarified,

If you’re changing things up or adding movement, a little bit of soreness is okay. But you shouldn’t be deep-muscle sore after every workout.

Combining advanced tools with foundational health habits

Alongside guidance from her father, Hailee and Josh have developed their own recovery routine that includes good sleep and nutrition habits. Allen recently revealed in a GQ interview that the couple installed an infrared sauna at home, which they use regularly after intense training sessions. He shared,

I just got an infrared sauna, and it’s got some red light as well. Me and my wife have been doing that almost daily,

illustrating their commitment to holistic recovery methods beyond traditional workouts.

Setting sights on the upcoming NFL season

As the Bills prepare for the new NFL season, their aim is to return to the Super Bowl for the first time in two decades. The team stands as favorites in the AFC East and came close to breaking through last year, falling short against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. With Allen’s renewed physical condition and a proven recovery routine, Buffalo is well-positioned for a strong campaign ahead.

The integration of personalized fitness recovery and family support is playing a significant role in Allen’s resurgence, which may influence how athletes blend advanced technology and traditional training to optimize performance in the future.
