Olivia Dunne, the girlfriend of Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, was present in Colorado to support her boyfriend during the weekend series finale against the Colorado Rockies. The former LSU Tigers gymnast attended both Saturday and Sunday games at Coors Field, showing her continued encouragement for the Pirates.

Dunne appeared to enjoy her time at the ballpark, seen savoring cotton candy during the game. She shared a lighthearted moment on Instagram, holding the treat affectionately in her lap.

“My babies,” Dunne captioned her story.

Since retiring from gymnastics in April after five years competing with LSU, Dunne has been a familiar supporter of Paul Skenes at Pittsburgh Pirates games.

Paul Skenes Faces Challenges in Familiar Baseball Setting

Despite Olivia Dunne’s support, Paul Skenes struggled on the mound during the series opener against the Rockies. Skenes, who had an impressive July, allowed four unearned runs in the game—more than he gave up throughout the entire previous month.

August began on a difficult note for the Pirates’ starter, yet the Rockies matchup took place in a region closely tied to Skenes’ past. Starting his college baseball career at the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2021, Skenes considers Colorado Springs and its surrounding areas near Coors Field to be a second home.

“It was cool to be back,” Skenes said. “I consider this kind of a second home.

Though he rose to prominence with LSU, where he met Olivia Dunne, Skenes holds a deep appreciation for his time at the Air Force Academy.

“I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on it,” Skenes remarked. “It’s tough to put into words. (The Academy), it’s been huge for me. So it’s nice to come back here and see some folks and go back to the Academy. It’s been a good couple of days.”

Pirates Rally to Avoid Series Sweep Following Difficult Start

After a tough loss on Saturday, the Pittsburgh Pirates managed to prevent a series sweep by defeating the Rockies 9-5 on Sunday. This win helped the team regain some momentum after back-to-back defeats.

Olivia Dunne’s consistent presence underscores her support for Paul Skenes Pirates game support, reflecting the strong bond they share both on and off the field. As the Pirates move forward, the encouragement from Dunne and Skenes’ connection to his roots may provide added motivation for upcoming games.
