Kyren Williams Signs 3-Year Rams Contract Extension After Career-Best 14 TD Season
Kyren Williams secures three-year Rams contract extension after back-to-back 1,100-yard seasons with double-digit touchdowns.

The Los Angeles Rams announced on Tuesday that they have signed running back Kyren Williams to a three-year contract extension, ensuring his stay with the team through the 2028 season. This move follows Williams’ outstanding performance during the 2024 NFL season, further cementing his role on the roster.

Williams’ Impressive 2024 Campaign Sets New Career Highs

At just 24 years old, Williams delivered another impressive season, rushing for 1,299 yards with 316 carries and scoring a career-best 14 rushing touchdowns. This marks his second consecutive year surpassing 1,100 rushing yards and double-digit rushing touchdowns, highlighting his consistent impact in the Rams’ backfield.

Historical Milestones Among Rams Running Backs

Williams’ 14 rushing touchdowns in 2024 places him among elite company in Rams history, being the sixth player to reach that total in a single season and the first since Todd Gurley in 2018. Only Marshall Faulk, Todd Gurley, and Williams have achieved 14 or more rushing touchdowns for the Rams since 2000. Additionally, Williams recorded at least 50 rushing yards over 14 straight games last season, tying the franchise’s second-longest streak behind Eric Dickerson’s perfect 16-game run in 1986 and matching Steven Jackson’s 2010 mark.

From Notre Dame to NFL Standout

Williams, a former standout at Notre Dame, has accumulated 579 carries for 2,582 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns during his first three NFL seasons with the Rams. Initially drafted in the fifth round (164th overall) in 2022, he has rapidly become a crucial asset for the team’s offense.

Implications of the Contract Extension for the Rams

By locking up Williams through 2028, the Rams solidify their commitment to a dynamic rushing attack led by a young, proven talent. His sustained success suggests he will continue to be a key figure in the team’s offensive plans moving forward, offering stability and production in the backfield.
