PGA Tour Hits Highest CBS Viewership Since 2018 with 17% Ratings Surge This Season
PGA Tour's highest CBS viewership since 2018, with 2.969 million viewers, records 17% increase from the previous year.

The PGA Tour’s broadcasts on CBS have attracted an average of 2.969 million viewers this season, marking a 17 percent increase compared to last year. This ratings boost represents the highest viewership for CBS coverage of the PGA Tour since 2018, indicating strengthened audience interest in the sport.

Out of 19 final-round CBS telecasts, 14 experienced year-over-year growth in ratings, showcasing a broad trend of higher engagement across multiple tournaments.

Highlights from Recent Tournament Draw Viewer Interest

Last weekend’s Wyndham Championship was particularly notable, drawing approximately 1.95 million viewers on CBS. Cameron Young’s first PGA Tour win, secured with a six-stroke margin at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, captured significant attention. Young’s impressive streak of five consecutive early birdies contributed to the excitement surrounding the event.

This viewer figure reflects a substantial 36 percent increase over the viewership for the final round of the same event in 2024, won by Aaron Rai, underscoring a growing audience for this tournament.

Upcoming Changes in Broadcasting and Seasonal Transition

The Wyndham Championship also served as the final CBS broadcast of the season, closing a chapter that will see change next year with the retirement of veteran commentator Ian Baker-Finch after three decades. His departure marks the end of an era for the PGA Tour’s broadcast team on CBS.

Following this CBS coverage, the PGA Tour will transition into the FedEx Cup Playoffs stage, with NBC and its affiliates taking over broadcast duties. The first event under this new broadcast arrangement, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, is scheduled to begin on Thursday.
