On Tuesday night, Brandon Lowe of the Tampa Bay Rays achieved his fourth career season with at least 20 home runs during the team’s 7-3 win against the Los Angeles Angels. Lowe’s two-run homer in the fourth inning ignited a seven-run surge for Tampa Bay and secured his 20th homer of the season, marking his third consecutive 20-home run campaign.
Joining an Exclusive Group in Franchise History
With this milestone, Lowe became only the fourth player in Rays history to record four or more 20-home run seasons, joining notable players Evan Longoria, Carlos Peña, and Aubrey Huff. This accomplishment solidifies Lowe’s standing among the franchise’s top power hitters.
Standing Out Among Second Basemen in Major League Baseball
Lowe also joins a distinguished group of active primary second basemen to have at least four 20-home run seasons, including Houston’s Jose Altuve and Atlanta’s Ozzie Albies. To qualify, a player must have competed in at least half of their games at second base. As of 2025, Lowe ranks second in home runs among second basemen, trailing only Ketel Marte, who has 21.
Strong Offensive Performance Across the Season
Through 92 games, Lowe holds a .272 batting average with 94 hits in 346 at-bats. He boasts a .323 on-base percentage, a .480 slugging percentage, and an impressive .802 OPS. Notably, if Lowe hits two more home runs this season, he will surpass his previous single-season totals from 2023 and 2024, edging closer to his career high of 39 home runs set in 2021.
Looking Ahead as Rays Seek Series Win
Currently, the Rays hold a 56-59 record and sit fourth in the AL East, while the Angels share a similar 55-59 mark, positioned fourth in the AL West. Tampa Bay is set to play the series finale against Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon, aiming to extend their momentum from Tuesday’s strong performance.
