Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill did not participate in practice on Wednesday because of an injury that has not been revealed, according to reports from the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, Claude Smalls II, and Andre Fernandez. The exact seriousness of Hill’s condition remains unclear at this time.
Reviewing Tyreek Hill’s Performance and Team Context
In the 2024 NFL season, Hill played in all 17 games but experienced a dip in production compared to previous years. He recorded 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns, marking his first season with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards since 2019, when injuries limited him to 12 games. This was also his initial season since 2020 with under 100 catches.
The Dolphins ended the 2024 season with an 8-9 record, failing to qualify for the playoffs. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed six games due to a concussion sustained early in the season, which considerably weakened Miami’s passing game. They averaged 219.8 passing yards per game last season, a noticeable decline from leading the league with 265.5 yards per game in 2023.
Miami’s Offseason Moves to Strengthen Passing Attack
To enhance their aerial offense, the Dolphins signed wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine from the Tennessee Titans, who caught nine touchdowns in 2024, aiming to increase opportunities for Hill and the team’s other star wideout, Jaylen Waddle. Additionally, Miami secured Zach Wilson, formerly of the New York Jets and Denver Broncos, to serve as the backup quarterback behind Tagovailoa.
If Hill misses extended time due to his injury, Miami will likely rely heavily on Waddle to lead the receiving corps until Hill is able to return to the field.
