The Buffalo Bills will begin their preseason matchup against the New York Giants on Saturday without their star quarterback, Josh Allen. Allen, the reigning <a href="https://www.buzzineintl.com/category/football/nfl/”>NFL MVP, will not participate in the game as the team opts to keep him sidelined for precautionary reasons.
Mitchell Trubisky to Start Briefly in Allen’s Absence
Instead of Allen, former Pro Bowler Mitchell Trubisky will take over quarterback duties for part of the game. Bills coach Sean McDermott indicated that Trubisky will play for about one quarter during the contest, allowing the team to evaluate its backup options. Trubisky, who earned a Pro Bowl selection with the Chicago Bears in 2018, has seen limited action recently but completed 73.1% of his passes last season, throwing two touchdowns without interceptions.
Additional Quarterbacks on Buffalo’s Roster
Besides Trubisky, the Bills have other quarterbacks available, including AFC East veteran Mike White and Shane Buechele, who played collegiately at Texas and SMU. These players add depth to the roster as Buffalo prepares for the upcoming season.
Looking Ahead to the Regular Season Opener
The Bills’ regular season is set to commence on September 7 against the Baltimore Ravens during Sunday Night Football. It is widely anticipated that Josh Allen will return to lead the team in that game, much to the relief and excitement of Bills fans.
