His connection to the latter began in 2014 when Ann Schaab from the Washington Ice Dogs invited him on a sushi date, sparking his lasting involvement.
During the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend, Ovechkin secured a new car from Honda through a contest and donated it to the Special Hockey program. He has also consistently provided tickets to Special Hockey players through his initiative known as Ovechkin’s Crazy 8’s, reinforcing his commitment to making the sport accessible to athletes of all abilities.
