Trump Scores Big as PGA Tour and LIV Golf Set 2026 Events at His Courses in Rare Breakthrough
In 2026, both PGA Tour and LIV Golf plan events at Trump-owned courses, highlighting his influence in golf.

Donald Trump has achieved a significant milestone in golf as both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf have scheduled tournaments at courses he owns for the 2026 season, highlighting his sustained influence in the sport. Although his effort to bring The Open Championship back to Turnberry Golf Course remains unresolved, Trump’s properties in Virginia and Miami will host rival golf events in the same year for the first time in a decade.

2026 Golf Events Confirmed at Trump-Owned Courses

The ongoing rivalry between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf appears to have reached an unusual moment of overlap as both tours plan to hold competitions on Trump-owned venues in 2026. LIV Golf has announced its return to Trump National Golf Club Washington D.C., located in Sterling, Virginia, for May 2026, continuing a partnership that began with the tour’s 2022 debut. This will be the fourth straight year that LIV Golf hosts a tournament on a Trump course.

I am thrilled to welcome LIV Golf back to Trump National Golf Club Washington, D.C,

said Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization.

When we last hosted at Trump D.C., we set all-time attendance records – and this year will be even bigger.

I look forward to showcasing one of the nation’s most iconic golf venues and welcoming back many of the world’s greatest golfers.

Meanwhile, the PGA Tour is set to return to Trump National Doral Golf Course in Miami in 2026, marking its first event there in over ten years since hosting the WGC-Cadillac Championship. The scheduling is expected to place the PGA Tour event shortly before LIV Golf’s tournament, creating a rare season when both tours hold contests at Trump-owned facilities.

Turnberry’s Future in the Spotlight Amid Logistical Challenges

Despite these upcoming events, Trump’s hopes of reviving The Open Championship at his Turnberry Golf Course in Scotland remain uncertain. Turnberry last hosted The Open in 2009 but faces significant challenges, particularly related to accommodating large numbers of spectators. The R&A, which governs The Open, has cited concerns over spectator capacity, noting that Turnberry managed 120,000 in 2009 compared to Portrush’s expected 280,000 attendees at the 2025 edition.

Trump Facilitates Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Agreement in Washington

Beyond golf, Donald Trump played a key role in diplomatic efforts by hosting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House for the signing of a peace deal designed to end decades of conflict between their countries. The agreement commits Armenia and Azerbaijan to permanently cease hostilities and resume commerce, travel, and diplomatic relations, while respecting each other’s sovereignty.

A notable feature of the treaty is the establishment of a U.S.-managed transportation corridor connecting Armenia and Azerbaijan. Named the

Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity,

this corridor aims to foster regional economic growth and increased cooperation.

While Trump hailed the deal as a major breakthrough, skepticism remains among many Armenians due to a recent Azerbaijani military offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh, which caused significant displacement and raised human rights concerns. The accord also promises expanded U.S. collaboration in areas like energy and technology.

Commenting on the peace agreement, President Aliyev described it as

long-lasting peace, eternal peace in the Caucasus.

Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan

Trump’s Continued Role in Golf and International Affairs

The scheduling of PGA Tour and LIV Golf tournaments on Trump-owned courses in 2026 marks a rare moment of convergence between the rival tours, underscoring Trump’s ongoing impact in professional golf. Meanwhile, his involvement in brokering the ArmeniaAzerbaijan peace agreement further highlights his role on the global stage beyond sports. As these golf events approach and diplomatic ties evolve, Trump’s influence in both arenas is likely to remain significant.
