Scottie Scheffler officially entered the world of cinema with his appearance as himself in Happy Gilmore 2. His role included participating in an inter-tour event scene and a memorable moment where he was shown in jail, watching the major golf event from behind bars. This playful depiction caught the attention of Netflix, which decided to honor Scheffler in a unique way during the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The FedEx St. Jude Championship is taking place at the TPC Southwind course, a prestigious tournament on the PGA Tour. Scheffler, known as the World No. 1 golfer, is not only among the favorites to win this competition but also became part of the event’s entertainment with his film involvement. To celebrate his cameo, Netflix named a promotional food tent after him right on the tournament grounds.
Netflix’s “Scottie’s Chicken Shack” Becomes a Highlight at TPC Southwind
Netflix’s tribute to Scheffler at TPC Southwind came in the form of “Scottie’s Chicken Shack,” a Happy Gilmore 2-themed food tent offering fans a unique experience. The tent featured three types of fries, a nod to a recurring joke in the film, and was located near the fan hub stretching between holes 12 and 18. This addition brought a fun and interactive element to the tournament, linking Scheffler’s on-screen persona with his real-life golfing achievements.

Adding to the humor, the food tent display included a photo of Scheffler from the movie lying on a bed inside a jail cell. This visual reference echoed a real-life incident where Scheffler was detained following the PGA Championship at Valhalla due to a traffic violation, blending fiction and reality in a lighthearted way.
Scottie Scheffler Reflects on His Acting Experience
During a press conference ahead of the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scottie Scheffler shared his thoughts about taking part in Happy Gilmore 2 and walking the green carpet at the film’s release on July 25th. He described the experience as completely new and exhilarating, differing greatly from his usual life on the golf course.
Scheffler expressed enthusiasm about working alongside prominent actors, specifically mentioning Adam Sandler. He praised the cast and crew’s efforts to create a welcoming environment on set, stating,
“As an actor, it’s been good. I thought being able to film that movie was a lot of fun. Adam Sandler and his team does such a great job of making us comfortable there, and it’s one of the things I told them after we got done filming the movie was like, you’re doing a great job, I think the movie is going to turn out great, but most importantly, everybody on the movie set was tremendous.”
He also highlighted the relaxed but hardworking atmosphere during production:
“Everybody was relaxed. They worked hard, but they had fun while they were doing it. It was just a really cool environment for us to be a part of, and it was very fun to be able to see how they make movies. Those guys are the real deal. They do a good job and have a lot of fun doing it.”
This film features several top golfers playing themselves, including Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka, making it a unique blend of sports and entertainment.
