Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill continues to generate trade speculation across the NFL despite currently dealing with an oblique injury, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Reports from Sunday’s SportsCenter reveal that while some teams are monitoring Hill’s availability, Miami remains hesitant to part with their star receiver.
Fowler conveyed the uncertainty surrounding Hill’s future, noting conversations with multiple teams about the possibility of a trade.
“I have talked to a few teams who are at least monitoring his future a little bit. Could he be a potential trade target?”
Fowler said. He added that although Miami earlier insisted they were not interested in trading Hill, there is still ongoing curiosity in the league about whether he might eventually be made available.
“Now, I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, ‘No, we’re not trading Tyreek Hill.’ But they just wonder, is he going to be available? It could be wishful thinking, maybe they want him to be available. But he’s a player when I bring up to teams, ‘Hey, who is sort of a trade target you’re watching?’ they bring up Tyreek Hill. So, we’ll see. He’s a big option for Tua, that would be a major move if they did move away from him.”

Dolphins’ Firm Stance on Retaining Hill
Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier made his position clear before the 2025 NFL draft, stating there was no plan to trade Hill. However, Grier did admit that an offer involving two first-round picks would attract serious consideration. That threshold exceeds the price Miami initially paid to acquire Hill in 2022, which was five draft picks including a single first-round selection sent to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite the heightened trade interest, no deal has materialized, and Hill’s recent injury likely diminishes such chances further. Fowler pointed out that Hill’s recovery timeline

“is still up in the air right now,”
complicating Miami’s willingness to entertain any potential trades.
The Challenges of Trading Hill at This Stage
With the 2024 season approaching, moving Hill now would create a substantial gap in the Dolphins’ offense, which would be challenging to fill given the timing and available resources. Any draft picks acquired through a trade wouldn’t be usable until 2026 at the earliest, and veteran free agents on the market do not match Hill’s proven impact on the field.
Hill, a five-time All-Pro, seemed uncertain about his future in South Florida after the 2024 season ended, particularly following a Week 18 loss to the New York Jets. However, he has since dismissed those doubts, and indicators suggest he will remain a core part of Miami’s offense as the new season begins.
Trade Prospects and What Lies Ahead
While teams in need of wide receiver talent continue to keep tabs on Hill, their efforts to pursue him are likely to be unproductive absent a shift in Miami’s stance. The Dolphins are expected to hold onto Hill for the foreseeable future, valuing his role as an essential target for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and a vital contributor to their offensive scheme.
