NASCAR Truck Series Driver Andres Perez Released Mid-Season, Joins Niece Motorsports for 2025 Finish

NASCAR Truck Series driver Andres Perez was released by Spire Motorsports shortly after finishing 21st at the Watkins Glen race on August 8, 2025. Despite beginning the race strongly with a top-five starting position and recording the fastest lap of the day, Perez’s performance led to a surprising mid-season team change.

Following his release, Perez will continue racing with Chevrolet as he joins Niece Motorsports to complete the remainder of the 2025 season. Spire Motorsports is preparing to announce its future plans for the No. 77 truck soon.

Spire Motorsports Reflects on Perez’s Progress and Future

Spire Motorsports issued a statement praising Perez’s advancement during the season while expressing confidence in his career moving forward. The team clarified that although plans for the 2026 season remain undecided, allowing Perez to explore other options now was intended to support his growth both this year and beyond.

“Andres has made meaningful progress this season, and we remain confident in his future,”

Spire said in the Monday statement.

“While we haven’t finalized our 2026 plans for the No. 77 team, we wanted to give him the opportunity to look ahead and pursue other options for the remainder of this year and beyond.”

“He’s a hard worker, carries himself with humility, and brings a consistently positive attitude to the garage,”

the team added.

“He comes from a great family, and we fully expect him to continue making strides as part of Chevrolet’s driver development program. We’re proud to have been part of his journey and will continue cheering him on.”

Perez’s Optimism as He Joins Niece Motorsports

Andres Perez, 20, who earned the 2024 ARCA Menards Series championship, expressed enthusiasm about his new opportunity with Niece Motorsports. Highlighting both the inherent challenges and motivations of making a mid-season switch, Perez emphasized his focus on the upcoming races and his readiness to build a strong foundation with his new team.

“Overall, I’m really excited about the upcoming races with Niece Motorsports,”

Perez stated.

“Making a change mid-season always has its challenges, but the team and I are working hard to be 100% by the time Richmond comes. I’m really focusing on having a good race there and feel very motivated with how the team has treated me. I feel the team is also motivated with having me there as well.”

“It feels like things are working well, and I’m ready to start a good foundation and build from there for the last eight races,”

he added.

“I want to go out there and show what we’ve got. I’m expecting some good results starting in Richmond, which is a track that I don’t know, but I’m putting a lot of emphasis in the pre-race work to go out there and start getting some good results with the team, which is what we’re all here for.”

Perez Set to Debut in Richmond’s Regular Season Finale

Andres Perez will drive for Niece Motorsports in his debut with the team at the Truck Series regular season finale scheduled four days after the Watkins Glen announcement. This event will take place at Richmond Raceway and will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1, providing a high-profile stage for Perez to demonstrate his potential and adapt quickly to his new team environment.
