Jackson Chourio advances in rehab, aiming for August return, boosting hope for Brewers' lineup comeback.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio has been sidelined since July 29 due to a strained hamstring but is making encouraging progress. According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Chourio has increased his running workouts to about 75% of full effort and aims to begin a rehab assignment during August. This development aligns with previous expectations of a prolonged injured-list absence, offering hope that the young slugger could return early next month.

While his return would be a boost, the Brewers have remained competitive despite the absence of several key players, including Chourio. The team’s resilience continues to keep them afloat as they await the return of their injured talent.

Injury Updates Surrounding Brewers’ Roster

Beat reporter Curt Hogg provided fresh insights into other Brewers players currently dealing with injuries. Unfortunately, the timeline for rookie right-hander Logan Henderson’s return remains distant, with an estimated comeback set for late September or early October. Henderson has shown promise this season with a 1.78 ERA and 33 strikeouts over 25.1 innings in five starts. However, his brief replacement, Tobias Myers, struggled in a recent outing, lasting just 3.1 innings and allowing two home runs.

Jacob Misiorowski, who was called up as Henderson’s replacement, may start a rehab stint as soon as this Friday following a bullpen session on Tuesday. If Misiorowski returns before Henderson, it appears unlikely Henderson will pitch again during the regular season. Depending on his recovery progress, the team may decide whether to include him in the postseason bullpen roster.

Jake Bauers and Other Position Players Awaiting Comebacks

First baseman Jake Bauers, out since mid-July, is set to begin his rehab assignment on Thursday. Struggling at the plate with a .197 batting average this season, Bauers faces limited chances to reclaim first base, where Andrew Vaughn has firmly established himself. The Brewers also await Rhys Hoskinsreturn, who was sidelined shortly before Bauers.

Until Chourio returns, Bauers might get occasional chances in the outfield, though manager Pat Murphy has frequently deployed Christian Yelich there. Yelich, along with Sal Frelick, Isaac Collins, and Blake Perkins, have provided solid options in the outfield rotation. Brandon Lockridge has also impressed in limited appearances, while Bauers, reportedly a trade candidate earlier this year, would need considerable fortune to secure a spot on the playoff roster.

The Road Ahead for the Brewers

The Brewers are managing a challenging stretch marked by injuries to key players like Jackson Chourio, Logan Henderson, and others. Chourio’s steady advancement toward a rehab assignment provides optimism for the team’s future lineup stability. Meanwhile, extended timelines for Henderson’s return and the ongoing use of replacement players underscore the depth challenges the team faces.

How the Brewers integrate these players back into the roster will influence their postseason positioning and overall competitiveness. With careful management and continued progress from injured players, Milwaukee aims to maintain its momentum as the season progresses toward the final months.
