Shannon Sharpe Refuses Ride in Luka Doncic’s $2.2M Rimac Nevera Hypercar: “Not My Style”

Luka Doncic, the Slovenian basketball star who recently signed a three-year, $165 million extension with the Lakers, has added a new high-performance vehicle to his collection. Just days after finalizing his extension, Doncic was seen with a red Rimac Nevera, a Croatian electric hypercar known for its record-breaking speed and acceleration.

The Rimac Nevera can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.74 seconds and reach a top speed of 258 mph. Starting at $2.2 million, the hypercar’s price can increase significantly with additional customizations. With Doncic’s lucrative contract, upgrading beyond the base model seems almost certain.

Shannon Sharpe Declines Sharing the Fast Ride

Shannon Sharpe, former NFL star and Lakers superfan, expressed enthusiasm about Doncic joining the Lakers but was clear about one boundary: he’s not interested in riding in the ultrafast hypercar. During a conversation with his Nightcap cohost Chad Johnson, Sharpe candidly shared his reluctance to experience such extreme speeds.

They need to tell me about that, ’cause I ain’t gonna be in there either in the passenger seat or the driver’s seat going 258,

Sharpe said, emphasizing his discomfort with the car’s velocity despite being an L.A. resident.

Questions on Where to Use the Nevera’s Power in Traffic

The pair discussed the challenges of fully utilizing the hypercar’s power in a city infamous for congestion. Johnson questioned where Doncic might have the space to push the Nevera to its limits.

There’s nowhere in the States that you can open up like that,

Johnson remarked,

The Pacific Coast Highway, maybe, if anything?

Sharpe humorously disagreed with Johnson, warning that attempting those speeds on winding roads like the Pacific Coast Highway could land you in the ocean. He added,

Unless you go to the salt flats or somewhere in Utah,

Sharpe said,

maybe the Autobahn, but I’m just trying to figure out where you [are] gonna go that you can just open it up like that?

Sharpe Stands Firm Against Taking a Ride

Despite the car’s impressive capabilities, Sharpe was resolute about avoiding any ride in the Rimac Nevera, citing safety concerns about the extreme speeds.

Even if you could, I’m just saying I’m not gonna be in there,

Sharpe reiterated, before adding,

Somebody else can tell me, ‘Yeah man, it got to 258.’ But I don’t want no part of that. You know how quick you come up on stuff at speeds like that?

Sharpe added.

Anticipating Doncic’s Impact Beyond the Roads

Luka Doncic’s love for fast cars is no secret, but Lakers supporters hope he channels his energy differently on the basketball court. As the team’s new captain and an emblem for the franchise’s future, fans are eager to see him lead the Lakers toward their 18th <a href="https://www.buzzineintl.com/category/basketball/nba/”>NBA championship, rather than taking risky joyrides around Los Angeles.
