Michael Porter Jr. reveals surprising demands for future wife: “You’ve got to help me mentally and cook”
Michael Porter Jr. outlines expectations for his future wife, valuing ambition and contribution as essential relationship demands.

Michael Porter Jr., now a key player for the Brooklyn Nets, recently spoke candidly about what he expects from his future wife. During an appearance on the One Night with Steiny podcast, Porter emphasized that his future partner must contribute meaningfully to their relationship by offering mental support and practical skills like cooking and cleaning. He stressed that while he is willing to provide financially, he expects his partner to bring value beyond that.

Porter stated,

“My only thing with a girl is you got to bring some to the table. Like I don’t mind providing for you, I don’t mind doing that. You can stay at the crib, you can do your thing, (but) you got to bring something to the table. You got to help me mentally, you got to be able to cook or something, you got to be able to clean or something, you got to bring something to the table. Otherwise, like what value are you bringing to my life? That’s the way I look at it now.”

He also expressed frustration with some women who claim to be queens but do not put in effort in a relationship. Porter contrasted women he has encountered in New York to those from cities like Los Angeles and Miami, noting that many New Yorkers are ambitious and hardworking, qualities he values highly.

Insights into Porter’s personal struggles and family context

Porter candidly discussed his personal challenges, referencing previous remarks about his vice involving women ahead of his debut season with the Nets. On the same podcast, he also touched on his brother Jontay Porter’s struggles with gambling, highlighting that everyone battles some form of vice or hardship.

Everybody has different vices,” Porter explained.

“Everybody has different things that they struggle with. That can go with people who struggle from alcohol, people that struggle with drugs. You know, for example, my brother struggled with gambling. My vice has always come in the form of women.”

Jontay Porter’s gambling issues led to his lifetime ban from the NBA and legal consequences, including prison time following a guilty plea for conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Michael’s openness about these family difficulties has shed light on the pressures both brothers face in their personal and professional lives.
