Luke Fenhaus Confirmed as Chris Buescher’s Richmond NASCAR Replacement for Friday’s Race
Chris Buescher to miss Richmond NASCAR race, Luke Fenhaus returns as replacement for Truck Series event.

Luke Fenhaus has been named as the driver replacing Chris Buescher for Friday night’s Truck Series race at Richmond Raceway. Fenhaus, who has been the primary driver of the No. 66 Ford truck for ThorSport Racing this season, will return to race at the 0.75-mile oval in Richmond, Virginia. This will mark Fenhaus’s first start since late July at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Chris Buescher’s Recent Truck Series Debut and Upcoming Absence

Chris Buescher competed in a Truck Series event for the first time in his career this past weekend at Watkins Glen International, where he drove the No. 66 Ford for ThorSport Racing. This was his first race outside of the Cup Series since 2015 when he was a full-time Xfinity driver. Buescher finished 22nd at the eight-turn road course before securing third place in the Cup Series race that followed on Sunday. Despite this effort, Buescher will not return behind the wheel of the No. 66 for the upcoming Richmond race on Friday.

Fenhaus’s Performance and Role with ThorSport Racing

Fenhaus has made 10 starts in the No. 66 truck so far this year, leading all drivers in that category. At just 21 years old, the Wausau, Wisconsin native has managed a season-best finish of third at Michigan International Speedway in June. That stands as his only top-10 finish this season, although he did achieve two additional top-10s during three starts last year. ThorSport Racing has not yet announced who will drive the No. 66 in the playoffs, which include three rounds and seven races.
