Drake Maye 2025 Fantasy Preview: Can New England’s QB Break Out Amid Team Overhaul?

After sitting on the bench for the first five weeks of the 2024 season, New England’s quarterback Drake Maye was given an opportunity to start for the remainder of the year, replacing Jacoby Brissett. Although Maye showed notable improvement, his impact was limited by the Patriots’ struggling offensive line and weak wide receiver corps, resulting in only one game with over 250 passing yards during his final eight starts. On the positive side, Maye demonstrated significant rushing ability, accumulating 421 yards and scoring two touchdowns on the ground.

Changes to New England’s Offense in 2025

The offseason brought substantial changes to the Patriots organization, highlighted by Mike Vrabel stepping in as head coach. The team revamped its offensive line, introducing three new starters and welcoming back Cole Strange for a full season alongside returning lineman Mike Onwenu. On the receiving end, New England added three new receivers to the roster, while also gaining TreVeyon Henderson, who provides an explosive receiving option out of the backfield. These upgrades aim to support Maye’s development and the offense’s overall efficiency.

Prospects for Maye’s 2025 Fantasy Season

Maye’s dual-threat ability as a quarterback offers a promising foundation for a fantasy QB1 ranking. However, the offseason moves appear more focused on stabilizing the team rather than aggressively challenging the AFC East’s top contenders. Given coach Mike Vrabel’s history with the Titans, where his teams rarely ranked in the top 25 for passing attempts, Maye’s passing volume might remain limited. This constraint could cap the ceiling for Maye’s fantasy production, even as his talent suggests he might outperform modest expectations in his second year.
