Sean McVay Hints Kyren Williams Could Explode as Top Fantasy Asset with Expanded Role in Rams’ Offense

The Los Angeles Rams are aiming to revitalize their offense for the 2025 NFL season after struggles caused by injuries and a decline in quarterback Matthew Stafford’s performance. The team is making notable adjustments to improve their overall attack, hoping to return to form.

A major shift will come from replacing former wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Demarcus Robinson with former Green Bay Packers star Davante Adams. Positioned alongside young talents Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell, Adams is expected to greatly enhance the Rams’ passing threat, particularly near the red zone.

Kyren Williams Set to Feature More Heavily in Passing Game

Despite the offensive changes, Head Coach Sean McVay plans to maintain a strong focus on the running game, with Kyren Williams leading the charge. Williams has been one of the NFL’s most efficient rushers over the past two seasons, topping the league in yards per game in 2023. He is already considered a high-value fantasy asset for 2025, but McVay’s recent comments suggest Williams’ role in the offense could expand significantly.

During the 2024 season, Williams put together another impressive fantasy performance, averaging 17 full-PPR points per week and ranking seventh among NFL running backs. However, his contributions as a receiver were limited, with only 2.1 receptions for 11.4 yards per game.

McVay believes that Williams’ involvement as a receiver can increase markedly this year:

I think there’s a possibility of [Kyren Williams being used more as a receiver]. I think those are always things you’re looking to try to evolve and adapt and do a better job of as a coach for these players. I don’t think he’s limited in some of the things that we can take advantage of. Certainly, the pass game is something that comes to mind. He’s shown that he’s capable of that when he’s been given his opportunities. We probably have to do a better job of being able to find them for him, especially me.

Potential Impact of Expanded Role on Williams’ Fantasy Outlook

Known as one of the NFL’s most creative offensive strategists, McVay’s intent to integrate Williams more extensively into the passing game opens exciting possibilities. If Williams capitalizes on added opportunities in the receiving game, he could transform from a primarily ground-focused player to a dual-threat weapon, raising his fantasy ceiling dramatically.

This evolution would not only increase Williams’ value in fantasy leagues, especially PPR formats, but could position him as one of football’s highest-scoring fantasy players. As the Rams adjust their scheme, Williams’ enhanced versatility may prove crucial to their offensive success and fantasy relevance.
