Mike Burrow has been the caddie for PGA Tour standout Robert MacIntyre since 2024, supporting the Scottish golfer during some of his most important moments on Tour. The partnership officially began midway through 2024, but Burrow’s involvement with MacIntyre started in late 2023, helping the player build momentum going into the new season.
Early collaboration before full-time partnership
Although Burrow became MacIntyre’s full-time looper in mid-2024, their working relationship began several months earlier, near the end of the 2023 season. Before Burrow’s arrival was permanent, MacIntyre had gone through multiple caddies, including stints with his father. Burrow’s initial work included aiding MacIntyre during his late 2023 push, culminating in a top-10 finish at the Qatar Masters and solid showings at the DP World Tour Championship, where MacIntyre tied for 18th, ultimately finishing the season ranked 13th.
Mike Burrow’s extensive background as a pro caddie
Burrow brings years of experience on the bag, having worked previously with players like Mike Lorenzo-Vera and Marcus Armitage. His reputation grew significantly while caddying for Haotong Li, a player who was ranked among the world’s top 60 at the time. Although MacIntyre missed qualifying for the 2024 Masters Tournament, Burrow still participated at Augusta National, carrying the bag for 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett, who finished tied for 45th that year.

A costly mistake in Burrow’s career
One challenging moment for Burrow occurred in 2019 at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic while working for Haotong Li. Following recent rule changes prohibiting caddies from standing on the line of play behind the ball, Burrow inadvertently broke this rule, resulting in a two-stroke penalty. The penalty dropped Li out of the top 10 and cost him approximately $98,000 in prize money, marking a significant setback for Burrow as a caddie.
MacIntyre’s career peaks with Burrow on the bag
The 2024 and 2025 seasons have showcased MacIntyre’s best golf, highlighted by multiple top finishes. Although MacIntyre won the 2024 RBC Canadian Open with his father caddying, that arrangement was never intended to be permanent. After joining MacIntyre in 2024, Burrow played a crucial role during a breakout stretch that saw MacIntyre win the Genesis Scottish Open on home soil. MacIntyre also achieved a top-10 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and placed 17th at the Tour Championship. By the start of the 2025 FedEx Cup playoffs, MacIntyre had racked up nine top-20 finishes, including high placements at The Players Championship, the U.S. Open, and The Open Championship.
Burrow’s lifelong caddie ambitions nearing fulfillment
Originally from Newcastle and a Sunderland supporter, Burrow revealed to Northern Yorkshire Golfer that he had tried to pursue a playing career before shifting focus to caddying. He described carrying the bag as “the next best thing” after playing professionally.
“The next best thing is carrying the bag,”

He further expressed the unique privileges caddies enjoy at elite tournaments, stating,
“You get a front row seat to the best golf in the world. … I’d happily take that while getting to be inside the ropes with the best golfers in the world. If England got to the World Cup final, you couldn’t just go and sit in the dugout between the players. As a caddie, working for one of the best players in the world, I’m right there at the biggest events in the world.”

Burrow has set his sights on caddying at the Ryder Cup, a dream that will come to fruition as he will be on MacIntyre’s bag for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. This opportunity marks a major milestone in Burrow’s career and highlights his important role in the rising trajectory of Robert MacIntyre’s golf journey.
