Marcus Armstrong will remain with Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) and race the No. 66 Honda during the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, team officials confirmed on August 18. The New Zealand driver has quickly established himself as a strong contender for the team in his rookie year with MSR.
Consistent Performances Mark Armstrong’s 2025 Season
At 25 years old, Armstrong has delivered ten top-ten finishes in the 2025 IndyCar season, including a podium at Iowa Speedway where he finished third—only the second time he has stood on the podium in the series. Currently ninth in the overall points standings with two events remaining, Armstrong is targeting his first top-10 finish in a full IndyCar season behind the wheel of the No. 66 SiriusXM Honda.
Strong Qualifying Results Highlight Growth
Armstrong has shown notable skill in qualifying, matching his career-best start of third position at Toronto and starting fourth in the season opener at St. Petersburg. These efforts underline his rapid improvement and ability to compete near the front of the grid.
Team and Driver Optimistic About Future Prospects
Expressing satisfaction with the contract extension, Armstrong said,
“I’m very pleased and grateful to be back with Meyer Shank Racing and my crew for 2026.”
He added,
“The professionalism and attention to detail is a benchmark throughout the field, and we have certainly improved with time together, which has been great. We’ll look to build on our momentum and work hard to climb the points standings.”
Mike Shank, co-owner of Meyer Shank Racing, also voiced enthusiasm about Armstrong’s continued partnership:
“We’re thrilled to have Marcus back for 2026.”
He continued,
“He’s really grown a lot this season, and we’re seeing that in his results as the season has gone on. His performance this year has shown that he has all the tools to fight at the front. We’re excited to continue building on this progress together.”
Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season
Armstrong’s confirmed return to Meyer Shank Racing signals the team’s confidence in his abilities as they prepare for the next IndyCar season. With the driver’s development and recent performances, MSR is aiming to elevate its competitiveness and secure a strong championship position in 2026.
