Andy Roddick Hails Jasmine Paolini as WTA’s Most Complete Player—Fans Are About to Go Crazy
Andy Roddick praises Jasmine Paolini as WTA's most complete player amidst her impressive 2025 season success.

Jasmine Paolini is maintaining a solid presence in the 2025 WTA season, building on a remarkable 2024 that captured the attention of tennis fans worldwide. After reaching two Grand Slam finals and securing an Olympic gold medal in doubles alongside Sara Errani last year, Paolini remains entrenched in the top 10 rankings. As the US Open approaches, she is widely recognized as one of the strongest contenders on the women’s circuit.

Andy Roddick Praises Paolini’s Versatility and Competitiveness

Former tennis champion Andy Roddick has expressed high admiration for Paolini’s all-around game, describing her as one of the most passionate and hardest players to break on the WTA Tour. At 30 years old, Paolini’s skills in both singles and doubles make her a formidable opponent both at the baseline and at the net. Roddick went as far as to call her possibly the most complete player competing in women’s tennis today.

I love Paolini. She is such a complete player. I am going to say something and everyone is going to go crazy, but just give me some time to breathe after I say it. She might be the most complete player in the women’s game,

Roddick stated on his ‘Served’ podcast.

Roddick highlighted Paolini’s adaptability in play, emphasizing her ability to defend well behind the baseline, hit shots at varying heights from both wings, and change the rhythm with both forehand loop and drive. Her capacity to step into the court and take away her opponent’s time accentuates her game further.

You can’t solve her serving 82mph sometimes against Swiatek. She will get overpowered sometimes but, man, she might not be tall in stature but she is tall in heart and fight and she is tall in watchability. I will tell you that much right now. She is a dream to watch.

Support from the Italian Federation Helps Paolini in Cincinnati

Currently without a permanent coach after a brief partnership with Marc Lopez ended after three weeks, Paolini received timely support from the Italian Federation. Federico Gaio joined her team for the Cincinnati Open, stepping in as her coach through the federation’s assistance. Gaio is expected to remain with Paolini through at least the conclusion of the US Open.

After finishing as the runner-up in Cincinnati, Paolini took a moment during the trophy ceremony to express gratitude toward Gaio, her team, and the Italian Federation for their ongoing support throughout the season.

I want to congratulate Iga. You’re playing amazing. You really deserve this title. Congrats to you and your team,

Paolini said graciously.

She continued, acknowledging the crucial backing from her team and federation:

I want to say thank you to my team also… and the Italian tennis federation who supported me these two weeks and is supporting me throughout the year. I’m really glad.

I’m kind of without a coach, so Federico is here through the federation. I called them and told them I need support. They are there for me. Thank you very much.

Jasmine Paolini’s Growth Signals Bright Future at Major Tournaments

Paolini’s continued rise in the WTA rankings and her recent strong performances reflect her determination and evolving skill set. With backing from the Italian Federation and a capable coaching team led by Federico Gaio, she is well-positioned to challenge top contenders at the US Open and beyond. Andy Roddick’s praise underscores how Paolini’s blend of technical prowess and mental resilience makes her a thrilling player to watch and a serious competitor in the women’s game.
