Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love resumed practice on Monday after recently undergoing surgery to repair a ligament in his left thumb. He took part in limited activities, including 7-on-7 drills, as he gradually works back into full form ahead of the joint practice with the Seattle Seahawks.
Limited Participation Expected in Joint Practice
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur noted that Love’s involvement would remain cautious during the joint session, focusing on controlled drills rather than full-contact reps.
“I thought it was good just to get him back out there, back in the mix, into the rhythm of playing quarterback,”
LaFleur remarked.
“We did some different things with him that we haven’t done in the past. I mean, we pretty much were primarily doing everything under center. So, I thought it was good work.”
LaFleur indicated that Love will likely have very limited participation during the joint practice but will continue engaging in 7-on-7 work to maintain sharpness.
Backup Quarterback Malik Willis to Take Majority of Snaps
With Love’s reps limited, backup Malik Willis is expected to take most of the snaps during the joint practice and will probably see considerable playing time in the upcoming preseason game against the Seahawks. Willis may also play alongside starters during that game as the Packers prepare to finalize their roster for the season opener.
Looking Ahead to the Regular Season
The Packers are scheduled to open their regular season hosting the Detroit Lions on September 7. Jordan Love’s gradual return and careful workload management during this preseason period aim to set the team up for strong performance heading into the full season.
