Nik Bonitto returns to practice with Broncos after foot procedure, welcomed back by Head Coach Sean Payton.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Nik Bonitto returns to practice with the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, marking a significant step forward after undergoing a recent foot procedure. His return comes as the team prepares for important upcoming games, bringing renewed strength to the linebacker corps.

Team Adjustments Following Injuries and Player Movements

Bonitto had missed the previous week’s practice against the Cardinals and was unable to participate in Denver’s preseason victory on Saturday. Head Coach Sean Payton expressed relief at seeing Bonitto back on the field, stating,

“It’s good to have him back out here.”

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw also increased his practice involvement, aligning with Payton’s earlier remarks about giving Greenlaw more playing time.

Meanwhile, the Broncos face challenges on the offensive line after guard Nick Gargiulo suffered an ACL injury during the recent game versus Arizona. Payton described the loss as difficult, saying, “That’s a tough loss.”

Roster Moves and Team Plans for Tight End and Fullback Positions

To reinforce their roster, Denver signed fullback Adam Prentice on Sunday. The Broncos remain vigilant in monitoring the waiver wire for additional tight end and fullback candidates, particularly as tight end Nate Adkins continues to recover from an ankle injury.

Payton acknowledged Adkins’ quiet but respected role within the team:

“Nate was one of those players that I don’t know got a lot of attention, yet there was a lot of respect around the league and in the locker room for the way he did a number of things,”

adding,

“It’ll be good to get him back when we do. In the meantime, we’ve got to fill that void somehow.”

Looking Ahead to Critical Games

The return of Nik Bonitto and the increased participation of Dre Greenlaw provide the Broncos with valuable depth as they approach key contests. Although injuries to Gargiulo and Adkins present obstacles, the team’s active roster management signals a commitment to maintain competitiveness throughout the season.
