Aliyah Boston Shares Fever’s Season Mantra: “Be Where Your Feet Are” to Conquer Tough Finish

Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever snapped a two-game losing streak on Sunday by defeating the Connecticut Sun 99-93 in overtime. As the Fever take a brief break, they face what Tankathon ranks as the toughest remaining schedule in the <a href="https://www.buzzineintl.com/category/basketball/wnba/”>WNBA, while the availability of star Caitlin Clark remains uncertain.

Speaking on the Post Moves podcast hosted by Candace Parker, Boston shared the team’s key approach to closing the season:

“Our goal has really been just to take it one game at a time. We’re not looking too far ahead. Right now, we’re looking at Minnesota on Friday. … Be where your feet are. Focus on what’s next and look at it one game at a time.” —Aliyah Boston, Indiana Fever Forward

In the victory over the Sun, Boston and Kelsey Mitchell led the team’s comeback from a 21-point deficit. The upcoming two matchups will pit the Fever against the Minnesota Lynx, the league leaders, who may soon welcome back MVP candidate Napheesa Collier from an ankle injury.

Following these contests, Indiana will host the Seattle Storm before embarking on a West Coast road trip that includes games against the LA Sparks, Golden State Valkyries, and Phoenix Mercury. Indiana has yet to secure wins against the Sparks or the Bay Area team, and they suffered a heavy 95-60 loss to the Mercury in their last visit to Phoenix.

The Fever are scheduled to return home on September 5 against the Chicago Sky, a team they have dominated this season. Their season finale consists of an away game in Washington followed by a final clash with the formidable Lynx.

Boston remains optimistic about the Fever’s playoff chances if the players maintain their united effort and focus.

Previous Victory Over Minnesota Builds Confidence for Upcoming Clash

Earlier this season, Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever surprised many by defeating the Minnesota Lynx to capture the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup title in July. Despite missing Caitlin Clark, the underdog Fever dominated the Lynx 74-59 in Minneapolis before a shocked home crowd.

The Lynx opened strong with a 20-12 lead, but Indiana responded quickly with a 20-7 run. The game featured a back-and-forth second half, where the Fever’s strong defense played a decisive role. Key contributions from Natasha Howard and Kelsey Mitchell helped Indiana hold off Minnesota’s attempts to regain control.

Aliyah Boston was a defensive anchor, limiting Napheesa Collier to just 12 points on 6-for-18 shooting. Boston’s stat line included 12 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block, underscoring her all-around impact.
