Bubba Wallace has shared that becoming a father last year profoundly changed his approach to both life and racing. The shift moved him from focusing solely on racing achievements to valuing family moments, a change he credits with reshaping his mindset behind the wheel. This change actually began when Wallace married Amanda Wallace in 2022, preceding his role as a dad.
Fatherhood’s Impact on Wallace’s Daily Life and Focus
In a recent interview with E! News, Wallace spoke fondly about his 10-month-old son, Becks, describing him as a “grown little man.” He emphasized how fatherhood has altered his priorities.
“Being a dad has been the coolest thing, the best thing that’s happened for me in my life. My wife, Amanda, has been an incredible mother, being able to be there when I’m not, and racing,”
Wallace said.
He also explained how caring for his son helps him mentally disconnect from racing pressures. When Becks is awake and in his care, Wallace is able to focus entirely on his son, freeing his mind from racing concerns. This shift allows him to find balance and peace amid the demands of a competitive season.
Wallace added,
“I have a beautiful wife at home. I have a healthy baby boy at home. Cute little dog. Like life is not as bad as I made it seem when I had a bad race or back-to-back bad races. I have a lot to be grateful for, and I think having a kid has really opened my eyes to just enjoying the moment.”
Fatherhood’s Effect on Wallace’s Racing Results
This new outlook has coincided with a strong performance by Wallace in the current NASCAR season. He earned a significant victory at the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which secured his playoff spot by way of a win instead of points for the first time. His season statistics also include four top-five finishes, ten top-10s, an average finish position of 18.16, and leading 259 laps through 25 races.
Looking Ahead to Daytona and the Playoffs
As the regular season nears its end, Wallace is preparing to return to Daytona for the last race before the playoff rounds begin. At Daytona, he holds an average finish of 13.0 over 16 starts, with five top-fives and a previous win at Duel 1 earlier this year. With growing confidence fueled by his fatherhood experience and recent success, Wallace aims to maintain his momentum going into the postseason.
