Marselles Brown, father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, was arrested in Las Vegas on Wednesday night after allegedly stabbing a man during a dispute in a parking lot. The incident led to charges of attempted murder, according to reports released on Thursday by KSNV NBC Las Vegas.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Stabbing
Witnesses described the altercation as beginning over a door ding. The victim and his girlfriend were sitting in a vehicle when an SUV pulled up beside them. Someone exited from the passenger side, and the SUV’s passenger door struck the driver’s side door of the victim’s car.
The victim got out to inspect the damage, which prompted an immediate confrontation.
“The other man in the SUV was immediately confrontational, said it was just a bump,”
the victim’s girlfriend told police, adding that the man insulted her boyfriend. In response, the victim tapped on the side mirror of the SUV. The man then challenged the victim to fight, which the victim accepted.
After the victim turned his back, the man from the SUV approached quickly while producing an unknown object.
“Swung his arm in a straight stabbing motion and struck [the boyfriend] in his back,”
the girlfriend explained. The suspect then struck the victim multiple times in the stomach as the victim tried to defend himself. The victim fled to the girlfriend’s car, and they drove to a nearby pharmacy at Fort Apache Road and Sahara Avenue to wait for emergency medical help.

Victim’s Condition and Medical Assessment
The victim remains in critical condition with severe injuries. According to medical information shared with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the man sustained stab wounds to his back, upper right clavicle area, and left hand. Additionally, he suffered a broken right rib that may require surgery.
Details Surrounding the Arrest of Marselles Brown
Authorities quickly acted on the reports, obtaining a vehicle description and partial license plate number. Police stopped a matching SUV on southbound U.S. 95 near Decatur Boulevard and found Marselles Brown seated in the passenger seat. He had abrasions on his knees and facial bleeding.
“He spontaneously uttered that this was all over a door ding without being asked any questions by Patrol officers,”
the arrest report noted. Brown was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) where he declined to be interviewed. Investigators collected Brown’s bloodied clothing at the crime scene, but the weapon used in the stabbing was not recovered.
Legal Status and Previous Offense Information
Jail records indicate that 57-year-old Quenton M. Brown, also known as Marselles Brown, was booked Thursday morning on suspicion of attempted murder, with his first court appearance scheduled later that day. He faces a bail set at $300,000 and must wear an ankle monitor if released.
Brown has a prior arrest history, having been detained by Henderson Police in 2016 on suspicion of battery causing substantial bodily harm.
Potential Impact and Next Steps in the Case
This case carries considerable emotional weight due to the severity of the attack and the involvement of a high-profile individual’s family. The unresolved search for the stabbing weapon and Brown’s refusal to be interviewed complicate the investigation. Authorities will continue pursuing evidence and witness accounts as the case advances through the legal process. Brown’s court hearings and any potential bail outcomes will be closely watched, given the serious nature of the charges and his criminal record.
