Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry have been a couple for more than ten years, and Ayesha recently opened up about their very first date, giving fans a glimpse into the early days of their relationship. Discussing their beginnings on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she described the day as a beautiful mix of innocence and youthful charm, marking the start of their lasting bond.
Remembering Their First Outing Together
Ayesha fondly recalled the details of that special day, highlighting its simplicity and joy. She spoke about strolling along Hollywood Boulevard, placing their hands in the famous Maryland Hands, and enjoying chai lattes. The atmosphere was young and carefree, something she wished she could experience again or observe from a distance.
During their walk, they visited the Grove, where Ayesha noticed filming was taking place for an Eddie Murphy movie that ultimately never premiered. The couple’s playful curiosity extended to checking police cars for donuts, symbolizing the innocent and lighthearted nature of their budding romance.
When the First Kiss Finally Happened
Although the early moments were sweet, no kiss occurred on that initial date. Stephen attempted to kiss Ayesha for the first time on their fourth outing, but she initially rejected him, candidly recounting how she was caught off guard.
“I was mid-sentence and he came flying at my face and I turned to the side, I’m still nervous at this point… He’s like, ‘Oh, oh,’ and I just look at him and I’m like, ‘I didn’t know that’s what we were doing. I didn’t know you liked me like that.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve just been coming over to your house for the past two weeks to play video games with your brothers.”

This moment made Ayesha realize the depth of their connection, setting the stage for their future together.
From Childhood Acquaintances to Romantic Partners
Stephen and Ayesha first met in their early teens through the same church group in Charlotte. Although their lives soon diverged—Ayesha moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting after finishing high school at Weddington, and Stephen attended Davidson College to further his basketball career—their paths crossed again years later.
Stephen’s trip to Los Angeles for the ESPYs in 2008 led to renewed contact. Remembering that Ayesha had relocated there, he reached out via Facebook with a playful message that sparked their romance.
“I was in this music video, and he was like, ‘Hey, who is that in the music video, in the picture that you’re in?’”

“And I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s Yung Berg.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, I should have known. He always has all the sexy ladies.’ And I was like, ‘What is happening right now?’”

This lighthearted exchange soon led to an invitation to hang out, and their relationship blossomed from there.
Marriage, Career, and Family Life
Stephen and Ayesha married on July 30, 2011. By that time, Stephen was already an NBA player with the Golden State Warriors, a path Ayesha had not initially expected since Stephen once expressed a desire to be a high school basketball coach.
The couple’s marriage has thrived alongside their professional and personal growth. Today, they share a family of four children: Riley, Ryan, Canon, and Caius, building a strong and enduring partnership through years of shared experiences.
